Apple has just issued a press statement to announce the iPad 2 making its debut in 25 additional countries this Friday March 25. That’s nothing new. We knew this at the iPad 2 keynote early this month.
What is a big deal is that in the same press statement Apple has announced that all versions of the iPad 2 will be available in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and additional countries in April
We can’t confirm anything right now but we have a bloody strong feeling that “additional countries” mean one of them is Malaysia.
Any Apple junkie in Malaysia will recall that the original iPad was launched in Singapore on July 23 2010, three months after it was officially announced in the US and a good four months ahead of the original iPad’s Malaysian launch in November 2010.
We feel that it is very safe to assume that the Malaysian launch lead time for the iPad 2 will be much less that the original iPad. So are we looking at an April launch date for the iPad 2 in Malaysia? It’s possible. If not May or early June the latest.
In terms of pricing, the Australian iPad 2 prices have been revealed as follows:
The above prices are inclusive of 10% GST which can be refunded when taken out from the country within a certain period of time.
Head on over to after the jump for Apple’s official press release.
