Specs of key upcoming HTC and Samsung devices leaked

Pictured here is the HTC Desire 2 (unconfirmed)

The Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire and the HTC Wildfire — what do all these devices have in common? Well, all of them are aching for a refresh. In short, the time has come for the lot to be replaced.

Both HTC and Samsung didn’t have much to show at CES this year so all eyes are on the Mobile World Congress happening next week. What do they have in store? Samsung will be unpacking the new Galaxy S and HTC is expected to release a slew of new and updated devices to make up for the deficit at CES.

Ahead of the event, leaked specs for the new Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire and the HTC Wildfire have surfaced and they are awaiting your reading pleasure right after the jump.

First up, we have the 4.3-inch (960×540 — not quite Retina Display teritory) HTC Desire HD2. It features a 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 8GB of on board storage. There’s an 8MP camera with 1080p video capability with HDMI out but there’s no forward-facing camera.

Next is the Desire 2. Disappointingly the new Desire will only get a next-gen single-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB of on board storage space. Display wise, it is specced with a 3.7-inch (800×480) WVGA SLCD screen. There’s a 5MP rear camera with 720p video capabilities and a 2MP front camera.

Lastly in the HTC refresh line up is the Wildfire 2 first seen here. Predictably the entry/mod-range device is specced with a 600Mhz processor and 384MB of RAM (internal storage not yet specified). There’s a 3.2-inch (480×320) display and a single 5MP camera at the back but there’s no HD video and that’s pretty much it.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S 2, there’s really no surprises here with the spec sheet confirming almost everything we know about the device — this is of course, assuming that the spec sheet is confirmed. Galaxy S 2 will pretty much be packing a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8260 processor with 512MB of RAM and 16GB of on board storage along with a 4.3-inch (800×480) WVGA Super AMOLED Plus screen. In the imaging department you get an 8MP rear camera with full 1080p video capability. Up front there’s a 2MP camera for video calls and self-portraits. On top of that you get NFC capabilities and HDMI.

We speculated earlier that the new Galaxy S will feature a curve glass surface like the Nexus S and a slide-out QWERTY like the BlackBerry Torch. Looking at the sheet, we might be wrong on both counts but we’ll see how the final product turn out.
