70% of New York working girls use BlackBerrys

Here’s an interesting tidbit. Wired magazine highlighted a study of the New York sex trade by Sudhir Venkatesh, a professor of sociology at Columbia University. Amongst some of the findings is the fact that 70% of New York working girls use BlackBerry.

The study reveal BlackBerrys make working girls look drug and disease free as the device is a symbol of professional life.

Go figure.

If you must know only 19% of New York’s sex workers use the iPhone.
