A smaller, cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy S in the works?

It’s still early days to confirm this piece of news but this previously unknown Samsung phone — codename S5830 — builds a compelling case that a more compact mobile phone built in the mould of the Samsung Galaxy S is in the works.

Initial details include a 3.5-inch 480×320 pixel, possibly Super AMOLED screen, Android 2.2 Froyo, 5MP rearward facing camera (720p video capable) and a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor rated at 600MHz.

Looks to us this S5830 is more of a Samsung Galaxy 5 replacement for the entry level Android position in Samsung’s Android range of mobile phones. What do you think?
