Pleco Chinese Dictionary for iPhone does OCR

If you have problems mastering or translating the Chinese language, there’s finally an app for that! Pleco Chinese Dictionary is probably the best Chinese translation app we’ve seen for the iPhone. Not only it does the normal Chinese text to English conversion but it even has an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature.

This comes pretty handy especially when translating a Chinese word which you can’t really type. Just face your camera, select the area of the text and Pleco will translate the text based on image recognition. Unlike Google Goggle’s feature of snapping a picture, Pleco seems to be able to recognise and translate on the fly.

Pleco Chinese Dictionary can be downloaded via iTunes.
