Upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 breaks cover

Mobile Review had just posted its hands-on preview on the yet to launch Anzu device from Sony Ericsson. This is the anticipated successor of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which is believed to be called the Xperia X12 when launched early next year.

The device runs on Qualcomms’s 800Mhz MSM7230 which is identical as the HTC Desire Z with Android 2.1 installed. The screen is slightly bigger at 4.3″ but displays the same 854×480 resolution as the X10. It is said that the new device will be able to support multi touch which has been a lacking feature in the Xperia X10. Mobile Review says that Android 2.2 Froyo for the Anzu is currently under development and will be made available during launch. Considering that it is launched early next year, it is quite a disappointment that it won’t be running on Gingerbread. Knowing how long it took Sony Ericsson to release the Android 2.1 update for Xperia X10, we are still unconvinced with Sony Ericsson’s commitment in pushing out the latest OS version.
