More updates on the Galaxy Tab coming to Malaysia

Looks like the Galaxy Tab is almost certainly coming and if our sources are correct, it will be in the Malaysian market by the end of this month.

Details are still scarce but European online retailers are listing the Galaxy Tab between EU700 to EU800 or about RM3,016 to RM3,447.

To put that into perspective a 64GB 3G iPad — the most expensive iPad in the market — costs SG$1,228 or about RM2,900.

It doesn’t take a genius to realise that that’s asking alot for a 7in tablet. You can get a good Core i5 laptop for RM3000.

So if the outright price for the Galaxy Tab is close to RM3,000, it’s safe to expect that there will be telco tying up the device to a contract to make it affordable.

Interestingly, Maxis is offering Galaxy Tab as prizes for a promo that it is running. And if that is anything to go by, we can possible expect Maxis — the most prolific Android device provider in the country — to be offering the Galaxy Tab with a contract.

If this is the case, then the question is, how would the contract structure be? Should we expect something like what’s being offered with the other Android devices or can we expect a hefty subsidy coupled with a high commitment?

We’re digging deep to get the details, and you know once we do, you’ll get it first right here at SoyaCincau.com.
