HTC Tube, DLNA for non-DLNA supported TVs

When HTC Desire HD was introduced, it was unfortunate that it lacked HDMI output which is commonly used on TV these days. Even without HDMI, HTC claims that DLNA’s wireless connectivity is capable of doing the same job considering most new TVs in the market are DLNA ready.

For those using older TVs without DLNA, HTC has introduced an accessory called the Tube, which basically is a DLNA receiver and connects to your TV via HDMI. It is powered with a 1GHz TI OMAP3630 processor which makes it like a media player of its own.

There’s no pricing at the moment and we have a feeling it won’t come cheap. Honestly, we think HTC could’ve save all that trouble if they just included HDMI on the Desire HD.
