Word has it that a new version of the iPad may be released before the holiday season. This of course goes against Apple’s traditional rule of 12 months product cycle refresh.
However with the push for FaceTime adoption by Apple, they might break their own rule by offering an iPad with a front facing camera earlier than usual. Just recently Apple has refreshed its line of iPods with the latest touch having FaceTime capabilities. This makes the current iPad a sore thumb among Apple’s current line up of FaceTime ready devices.
Video calling over 3G never really kicked off and Apple’s FaceTime is a reboot attempt in making video conferencing work for the masses. To ensure the success of FaceTime, standardisation across all Apple products is vital which makes us believe that a new iPad with FaceTime could be coming earlier than expected.
