The dude that tweeted that the Dell Streak is here could very well be pulling your leg.
Reuters revealed that the Dell’s first Android tablet will only enter Asia-Pacific markets early next year. As in around the first quarter of 2011.
Here’s an excerpt from the Reuters report:
“We have not yet announced the expansion plans for Streak in Asia. I suspect the early part of next year we’ll see that product,” said Steve Felice, president of Dell’s small and medium business unit.
What might make into the Malaysian market within this year is the Dell Aero. The Dell Aero, also known as the Dell Mini 3i in China, is an Android HSDPA (3.6Mbps download) smartphone with a 3.5in screen, 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, running a Marvell PXA310 624 MHz processor and get this, Android 1.5. If Dell is serious about selling this by the bucket load, the had better ship APAC-bound Aeros with Android 2.1 at least.
So could the popular TwitPic, now viewed close to 1,800 times, be the result of an over-excited, Dell product tester? If indeed the Streak will only come to this region early 2011, then the Twitter announcement from Dell is very, very premature. Wonder if @dellmsia will have an counter-statement to the Reuters report.
But then again, could the report be completely wrong? Because it looks like @starintech has already gotten a unit for review. Hmmm. This is getting very interesting.
