We have here a short video walkthough of RIM’s latest OS — the BlackBerry 6 — running on a non-touchscreen, non-QWERTY slideout keypad BlackBerry Bold 9700. Oddly enough, the BlackBerry 6 OS seems to be running better on the old Bold 9700 than the new Torch 9800.
The Bold 9700 running BlackBerry 6 is snappier, delivers a better browser experience compared to the old OS and adds face recognition to the camera. Not a bad upgrade but in terms of user experience, it’s probably still lagging behind the touch screen offerings from the Android and iPhone camps.
What in the world is BlackBerry doing? At this rate, BlackBerry won’t be able to keep up with the plethora of high-end Android devices out there and of course the ubiquitous iPhone 4.
But BlackBerry Bold 9700 owners will be happy to know that the BlackBerry 6 OS can run on their device. Now it’s only a matter of RIM making the BlackBerry 6 update available to Bold owners ASAP.
Head on over to after the jump for the video walkthrough.
