Dell Streak in Malaysia! Teased with hands on photo

Dell has revealed that the Dell Streak has arrived in Malaysia. The Streak is a 5 inch Android Tablet that was just launched not too long ago in the US.

No details on local pricing yet but as a comparison, it is sold in the US at US$549.99 which is roughly RM1,740. Other than that, we don’t know when the Streak will be launched. All we know is that it will be launched.

Specs wise, the Dell Streak will be packing a 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA (800×480) display, the potent and proven, 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM. There’s 2GB on board memory with a MicroSD expansion slot capable of supporting up to 32GB cards giving the Streak a total potential storage limit of 34GB, a considerable 32GB short of Apple’s most expansive iPad.

The Streak comes with two cameras — one, a 5MP camera with autofocus and dual LED flash and the other a VGA front-facing camera. Connectivity comes in the form 3G HSPA with 7.2Mbps download, 5.76Mbps upload) + Wi-Fi (b/g) and Bluetooth 2.1.

The Twitter announcement from Dell Malaysia’s official accound is exciting but it leaves loads of questions that still needs answering. Chief of which is the OS that the Malaysia bound Streak will be running. State side Streaks are running the ancient Android 1.6 while EU bound Streaks will get an upgrade to Android 2.1.

We don’t know about you, but we’re not expecting anything below Android 2.1. If the Streaks that’s coming to Malaysia wil immediately have Froyo, even better.

Another question is will Maxis — the telco with the most Android phones in its lineup — offer the Dell Streak with a contract tie-up. For our sake, we hope they do. A Dell Streak with a 12 months contract can theoretically go for as low as RM1,300 (thereabouts). If that’s indeed the case, we’ll signup in a heartbeat.

While we all wait for the big announcement from Dell Malaysia, head on over to after the jump to check out official videos on the Dell Streak.
