The honor 8 pro is one of the most affordable flagship phablets you can get for under RM2,000. It packs a huge 2K screen and it comes with a large 4,000mAh battery. When it comes to its software longevity, you’ll be happy to know that it will be getting the next version of Android.
Huawei Malaysia has confirmed that the honor 8 Pro will be in line to receive a major Android 8.0 Oreo update. No release dates were provided but it promises to bring new features including picture-in-picture (PIP) mode for videos, better notifications management, and autofill which will remember your logins for your favourite apps. We believe the update might be released after Huawei unveils its upcoming Mate 10 flagship which is expected to run on the latest version of Android out of the box.
To recap, the honor 8 Pro is a flagship phablet that’s priced at RM1,999. It gets a 5.7″ Quad HD display and powering the device is a Kirin 960 processor with 6GB of RAM. Internally, it gets 64GB of storage which is expandable via microSD.
For photography, the honor 8 Pro gets a dual-camera setup with two 12MP sensors dedicated for colour and monochrome. While it doesn’t have the Leica badge, it can take black and white shots solely from its dedicated monochrome camera. Over at the front, you’ll find an 8MP camera for selfies.
The honor 8 Pro is juiced up by 4,000mAh battery which is charged via USB Type-C. It also comes with a headphone jack and an infrared blaster that can be used as a universal remote. At the moment, it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
