For those who need a data-only SIM for WiFi sharing or for home broadband, Maxis has just revised its Wireless Broadband offering with their MaxisONE Go WiFi. These new plans offer up to 65GB of data which you can use anywhere with no weekday/weekend restrictions.
Compared to its previous Wireless Broadband plans, the new MaxisONE Go WiFi plans are better as they no longer split your monthly quota for YouTube and other video streaming usage. The base RM78/month remains unchanged with a total of 20GB of data and the next option is 35GB at RM108/month. If that’s not enough, Maxis has a larger 65GB option at RM138/month.
After you’ve finished your data, you can still connect to the internet but at a throttled 64kbps speed. For more high-speed data, you can add-on 5GB/day extra at RM5. Alternatively, there’s also a weekly add-on of 10GB/week at RM10 which is applicable only for its higher MaxisONE Go WiFi 108 and MaxisONE Go WiFi 138. The extra data can be purchased via the MyMaxis App.
If you need data while travelling overseas, you can roam at RM10/day at selected 8 ASEAN countries. This includes Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, Philippines, Cambodia and Laos. According to the FAQ, this isn’t additional quota for overseas use and you’ll be utilising your existing domestic data.
In terms of devices, you have a choice of either a 4G MiFi or a 4G home modem. The 4G MiFi costs RM299 outright and it is capable of connecting up to 8 devices simultaneously using its own built-in battery. For home usage, 4G Home Modem (Huawei B315S-22) at RM399 connects to the main power source and it can connect up to 32 devices. With a 12-month contract, these devices are cheaper and you can pick up the 4G MiFi modem from as low as RM1 on the MaxisONE Go WiFi 108/138 plan.
