Acer has jumped the gun and has announced two of their latest Liquid Smart Phones ahead of Mobile World Congress event. Designed for the Selfie generation, the new Android smart phones from Acer features a AcerRAPID key mounted at the back for easy one hand operation. One press of the AcerRAPID key can be used to launch the camera, take pictures, waking the device or to answer phone calls.
Read on for the low down on the Liquid E3 and Liquid Z4 smart phones.
Liquid E3
The Acer Liquid E3 is a mid-tier device that comes with a 4.7″ HD screen with a resolution of 1280×720. Powering the device is a modest 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor mated with 1GB of RAM and comes bundled with 4GB of on-board storage. At the back, it comes with a 13MP camera that claims to offer ultra fast focus even in low lighting conditions.
The front camera is the interesting bit. While the front facing 2MP camera seems normal, it promises better illuminated Selfie shots by having a front facing flash light. This is made easier with a AcerRAPID key at the back where you can take the shot with just one hand. This looks like an interesting alternative to the Oppo N1‘s rotatable 13MP camera.
The Liquid E3 also comes with a number of software features. One of it is SnapNote which allows you to easily capture presentation slides during meetings with an automated angle correction feature. Next is Acer Float which lets you multi-task by popping up your apps as an translucent overlay on top of another application.
At launch, the device will be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade will come sometime later this year. The Liquid E3 is priced at €199 which is about RM900.
Liquid Z4
The Acer Liquid Z4 is an entry level device that comes with a 4″ screen and is powered with a dual-core 1.3GHz processor. Similar to the Liquid E3, it comes with just 4GB of storage. Over at the back, it has a 5MP camera with 5 elements lens which claims to produce sharper and more vivid shots in its class. The Liquid Z4 is priced at €99 which is about RM449 when converted directly.
Both devices will be available initially in Europe starting from April.
