Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Camera but holding back for its lack of telephony features.
On the front or back, depending how you look at the device (cameraphone or phone camera), it comes with a 4.3″ qHD (960×540) AMOLED display and apperance wise, it looks like a Galaxy S4 mini. Under the hood, you’ll get a dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM and on-board it comes with 8GB of storage which can be expanded with microSD card. For video calls, there’s a 1.9MP secondary camera included as well.
The main highlight is its 16MP main shooter which comes with a 10X optical zoom of 24-240mm. Instead of the typical LED flash, it uses a more capable Xenon Flash instead. Compared with the Galaxy Camera, the S4 Zoom is lighter at 208 grams (Galaxy Camera: 300 grams) and thinner at 15.4mm (Galaxy Camera: 19.1mm). Even the battery on the S4 Zoom is bigger as well at 2,330mAh (Galaxy Camera: 1,650mAh).
The only upside on the Galaxy Camera is its higher resolution 4.8″ Super LCD that does 1280×720 and it comes with a higher 21X Optical zoom.
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with the usual WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and it even supports 4G LTE as well.
