Huawei Malaysia is giving its last year’s flagship smartphones a price cut up to RM300 ahead of the Ramadhan season. This covers the Huawei P9, Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro.

The Huawei P9 which is the first smartphone to feature a Leica co-engineered dual-camera system is now slashed from RM2,099 to RM1,799 and its larger 5.9″ Mate 9 is now going for RM200 less at RM2,499. Meanwhile, the top of the line Mate 9 Pro is reduced slightly by RM100 to RM3,299 from its original price of RM3,399. Of course, if you look hard enough, there are online retailers that will offer these 3 models at a lower price.

To recap on the specs, the Huawei P9 is a compact 5.2″ full HD flagship smartphone that runs on a Kirin 955 processor with 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of storage. It gets a pair of 12MP f/2.2 cameras at the rear while the front comes with an 8MP f/2.4 shooter. The P9 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery which is charged via USB Type-C. For the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, both runs on a newer Kirin 960 processor mated to 4GB of RAM.

For imaging, it gets a newer 20MP + 12MP main camera and a front-facing 8MP selfie shooter. Being a phablet, it gets a large 4,000mAh that charges via Huawei’s SuperCharge power brick. The Mate 9 gets a 5.9″ Full HD display with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the Mate 9 Pro gets a dual-curved 5.5″ Quad HD screen, 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

For those who prefer to get the latest, the Huawei P10 is currently priced at RM2,499 while its larger P10 Plus is going for RM3,099. Both are now available in two new colours – Dazzling Blue and Greenery.

If you have a budget for RM2,499, you have a choice of either a Huawei P10 or a Mate 9. Both comes with the same processor, RAM and storage capacity. However, the Mate 9 has a bigger screen and battery, while the P10 gets a better front-facing fingerprint sensor and a Leica front camera with its new Portrait mode. Which would you pick?
