Coming from its CEO Sanjay Jha, Motorola is confident that a chunk of BlackBerry users are wanting to make a switch to the Android platform. Another big claim but not surprising considering couple of surveys are showing the same trend.
Looking at the latest range of Android Motorola devices, you’ll notice that they are trying to entice potential blackberry users with its Motorola Spice and Motorola Droid Pro. Both offers a QWERTY keyboard and a familiar form factor which is like a bait for BlackBerry crowd.
The Droid Pro pictured above is Motorola’s answer for business users on the go, or what seems to be BlackBerry Bold type of users. It has a 3.1″ screen powered with 1GHz processor with 2GB memory in built and provided 2GB expandable memory. For connectivity, it also has WiFi with hotspot capabilities and DLNA for streaming media out to HDTV. You would also noticed that the keyboard has a strong ressemblence to the one used on BlackBerry Bold series. The Droid Pro is certainly rolling the red carpet for its intended target, but does this have what it takes for BlackBerry users to switch? Probably not.
Firstly we are not expecting hard core Blackberry users hooked to BBM to make a switch until there’s a proper Android equivalent. Then you’ll have the corporate world where the choice of devices are up to their respective companies, not individuals. So it isn’t as straightforward as building a hardware to match or exceed BlackBerry. What are you thoughts?
