Huawei’s Honor sub-brand has been doing quite well as of late. After announcing its top of the line Honor 7, they have just revealed its latest entry-level offering, the Honor 4A which is priced from just 599 CNY (about RM365). This looks like an improvement over its previous cheap and cheerful Honor 3C and this time it supports dual-SIMs and 4G LTE with extensive support for all Chinese networks.

For starters, it gets a decent 5″ HD 720p IPS display which is impressive in this price range. Instead of a MediaTek processor, the Honor 4A runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 which is an entry-level Quad-Core processor with 4G LTE support that’s clocked at 1.1GHz. To ensure that you have a decent multi-tasking experience, it gets 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and there’s 8GB of on-board storage which can be expanded with microSD up to 128GB extra.

The Honor 4A also gets a basic 8MP f/2.0 main camera and a front facing 2MP selfie cam. Powering the device is a 2,200mAh capacity battery which is rated to last 1.5 days with average use and up to 5 days with power saving mode enabled. Despite its low price tag, the Honor 4A gets a metal looking frame while the back cover has a laser cut engraving effect for a more upmarket feel.

For better audio, it has bottom mounted speakers which makes it louder than its previous entry-level models. Overall it weighs 155 grams and it has a decent thickness of 8.5mm. Out of the box, it runs on their proprietary EMUI 3.1 skin which is layered on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop.

For the price and the specs, the Honor 4A is going head on with Xiaomi’s Redmi 2A, which is a cheaper version of its Redmi 2. While the overall package is impressive for its price, we are not too sure about the use of Qualcomm’s 1.1GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 210 processor. With 2GB of RAM on-board, the Honor 4A could be decent enough for basic web browsing and social updates.
