As mentioned in our earlier post, Samsung had finally decided to add a new range of aluminum unibody smart phones to its port folio. With the likes of their Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 taking the high-end range (both spec and price), would there be any more devices that would possibly take on the mid-range market? The answer is yes, thanks to their Galaxy A5 (SM-A500F) and another upcoming Galaxy A3.

Recapping the specs, the Galaxy A5 is a 5” device with a HD 720p Super AMOLED display, powered by a decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. For storage , it comes with 16 GB of internal memory with an expansion slot. Camera wise, it is fitted with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The device will be powered by a 2,330 mAh capacity battery. Sources point out that it might be retailing between US$400-450 (roughly RM1,300-1,450)

Apart from the Galaxy A5, more leaks have confirmed that a smaller and affordable Galaxy A3 is on its way. Possibly featuring dual-SIM function with LTE connectivity, the device has near identical specs with the Galaxy A5, with the difference being in the camera having a notch lower 8-megapixels shooter, while the screen settles for a 4.5” qHD display. The expected price should be around US$350-400 (roughly RM1,100-1,300).

Both devices will sport aluminum unibody design that’s not exactly metal, but a rumored mystery material that’s made to feel like metal, but not quite, in effort to keep manufacturing costs low, without compromising on delivering a premium finish. Word also has it that a larger Galaxy A7 would be in the works as well and that could possibly feature a 5.5″ screen with Full HD resolution. After a streak of “advanced” plastic materials, Samsung now attempts to steal the spotlight from their competitors once again.
