CelcomDigi has announced its operational preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, rolling out infrastructure resilience measures and ground relief resources across flood-prone areas in Malaysia.
The mobile network operator is collaborating with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) and the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) to maintain network uptime and deliver emergency communications to affected communities.
CelcomDigi’s aid will cover six flood-proned states

The joint disaster relief effort is projected to support more than 3,400 households, with capacity to assist approximately 42,000 individuals across Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor, Pahang and Sabah.
To support on-ground logistics, CelcomDigi is supplying the MRA with four-wheel-drive vehicles, rescue boats, mobile charging stations, water pumps, generators and field volunteers.
Temporary shelter connectivity will be boosted
To safeguard telecommunication services during severe weather, the operator is raising critical transmission structures and electronic hardware in vulnerable locations above historical flood levels to prevent water damage.
CelcomDigi has also placed round-the-clock technical operations teams on standby to deploy portable power generators and restore damaged sites, aiming to minimise service interruptions.
For displaced residents, 15 temporary evacuation centres (Pusat Pemindahan Sementara, PPS) located in high-risk zones will be fitted with Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) units.
These setups are intended to help evacuees access communication services and stay in contact with family members or emergency responders.
A collaboration with NADMA and flood preparedness guidance for affected areas

Beyond physical infrastructure, the telco is co-ordinating with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and relevant statutory bodies to disseminate early warnings to communities at risk.
CelcomDigi has also introduced a Flood Preparedness Kit, providing safety guidance for members of the public. This guide is available in English and Bahasa Malaysia and can be downloaded through the official CelcomDigi app and social media platforms.
