The latest Meta AI-powered smart glasses from Ray-Ban and Oakley are officially coming to Malaysia.

EssilorLuxottica has announced that the new Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN and Oakley Meta Vanguard will be available locally starting 20 October 2026.

The new AI glasses let users capture photos and videos hands-free, listen to music, make calls and interact with Meta AI without taking out their smartphones.

Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta Malaysia Pricing and Availability

The new Meta AI glasses will be offered in Malaysia at the following starting prices.

  • Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) – from RM2,119
  • Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) – from RM2,209

  • Oakley Meta HSTN – RM2,069
  • Oakley Meta Vanguard – RM2,589

All four models will be available starting 20 October 2026 through their respective authorised Ray-Ban and Oakley stores, as well as selected EssilorLuxottica retail partners including Sunglass Hut, A-Look, SEEN and participating optical retailers nationwide.

Ray-Ban will also hold a dedicated pop-up at The Starhill Piazza in Kuala Lumpur from 21 October to 1 November 2026, operating daily from 10am to 10pm. Visitors can experience the AI glasses and get custom engravings on their Ray-Ban Meta cases.

Meanwhile, Oakley will showcase its AI glasses at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2026 (MotoGP) at Sepang International Circuit from 30 October to 1 November.

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) Specs and Features

The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) brings several hardware and design improvements over its predecessor, along with a new selection of frames.

The lineup consists of three designs: Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena. The Wayfarer is available in medium and large sizes, while the iconic Aviator joins the Ray-Ban Meta collection for the first time. Meanwhile, the Zena offers a distinctive geometric cat-eye design.

Unlike the Ray-Ban Meta Optics collection, the Gen 3 models are positioned as sunglasses rather than prescription eyewear.

In terms of hardware, the glasses feature a 12MP camera capable of recording videos in up to 3K resolution. They also get an upgraded six-microphone array, up from five microphones, with advanced wind noise reduction for clearer recordings and voice interactions. The wearable comes with 32GB of internal storage which can store up to 100 30-second videos and up to 1000 photos.

Another new addition is an assignable action button, which allows users to customise quick access to their preferred features or Meta AI functions.

Despite the upgraded hardware, Ray-Ban has managed to make the glasses slimmer. The temple height has been reduced by approximately 1mm, while the temple thickness is reduced by 0.3mm. The camera and LED openings are also 36% smaller, giving the glasses a more discreet appearance.

For improved comfort, the frames feature flexible temple tips that can better conform to different head shapes.

Battery life is rated at up to 9 hours on a single charge, while connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6.

Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) Specs and Features

For those who wear prescription glasses, there’s the Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), which comes in two designs: Blayzer and Scriber. The Blayzer is available in medium and large sizes.

Unlike the Gen 3 sunglasses, the Optics collection is specifically designed for prescription wearers, with features that prioritise comfort during everyday use.

These include a thinner front frame, flexible temple tips, an overextension hinge and an interchangeable nose pad system. Two additional sets of nose pads are included in the box for a more personalised fit.

In terms of hardware, the Optics models share several specifications with the Gen 3 sunglasses, including a 12MP camera with 3K video recording, six microphones, an assignable action button, Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6. Meanwhile, battery life is rated at over 8 hours.

The collection supports a wide range of prescription lenses, including Transitions lenses that automatically adapt to changing lighting conditions.

New seasonal colours include Transparent Shiny Dark Olive, Shiny Brick Brown and Transparent Shiny Ocean Blue.

Oakley Meta HSTN Specs and Features

If you prefer something sportier, the Oakley Meta HSTN offers AI-powered wearable features in a design inspired by Oakley’s sports heritage.

Like the Ray-Ban models, the HSTN features a 12MP camera capable of recording videos in up to 3K resolution. However, it uses a five-microphone array and the integrated camera offers a 100-degree camera field of view.

It also comes with integrated open-ear speakers for music, calls and podcasts, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings.

The glasses support voice commands, touchpad controls and a dedicated capture button for taking photos and videos.

Battery life is rated at up to 8 hours, while water resistance is rated at IPX4.

For lenses, the HSTN supports Oakley’s Prizm, Prizm Polar, Transitions and clear lens options. Prescription lenses are also available, supporting a range from -6.00 to +4.00.

Oakley Meta Vanguard Specs and Features

For more demanding and rugged sports activities, there’s the Oakley Meta Vanguard, which takes the HSTN’s core features and adds several performance-focused upgrades.

While both models feature a 12MP camera with up to 3K video recording, the Vanguard’s built-in camera is housed on the nose bridge. The placement offers a wider 122-degree field of view, compared to 100 degrees on the HSTN, allowing a wider capture of their surroundings during activities.

The Vanguard also adds a dedicated customisable action button which can be used to start a hyperlase video capture or trigger accessibility feature such as Be My Eyes.

In addition, the sportier glasses also gets a wind-optimised five-microphone array and more powerful open-ear speakers, which are rated 6dB louder than those on the HSTN.

Battery life is slightly longer at up to 9 hours, while the higher IP67 rating provides improved dust and water resistance compared to the HSTN’s IPX4 rating.

For a more secure fit, the Vanguard features Oakley’s Three-Point Fit system with three interchangeable nose pads, including options for low and high nose bridges. The frame is also designed to work with cycling helmets and hats.

Another key difference is its integration with Garmin and Strava, allowing users to access fitness and performance-related functions.

Unlike the HSTN, the Vanguard does not support prescription lenses. Instead, it is offered with Oakley’s Prizm and Prizm Polar lenses.

What can you do with Meta AI glasses?

Besides taking photos and videos from a first-person perspective, the new Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses offers several AI-powered features through voice commands.

Users can ask Meta AI questions about objects and places around them, request recommendations, translate conversations or what they see in front of them and perform everyday tasks without reaching for their phones. At the time of writing, the translation feature works with English and European languages (e.g. Italian, Spanish, German) and we were told that Bahasa Melayu will be supported on 20 October 2026.

The glasses also support music playback and audio services through integrations with platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

Other integrations highlighted during the briefing include Shazam for identifying songs, Audible for audiobooks, Calm for meditation, iHeartRadio for radio and podcasts, and Be My Eyes for visual assistance.

As with other AI-powered services, the availability of individual features and third-party integrations are subject to availability by region.
