Garmin Approach S72 specs and features

The Garmin Approach S72 pairs a lightweight titanium bezel and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens with a breathable ComfortFit fabric band. Both size variants feature vibrant AMOLED touchscreens for high visibility in direct sunlight, 64GB of internal storage, and an integrated LED flashlight with adjustable white brightness and a red-light mode for navigating dark environments. Powered by Garmin OS, the smartwatch is fully compatible with Android (OS 9) and Apple (iOS 18.2) devices.
Garmin offers the Approach S72 in two distinct sizes to accommodate different wrist preferences, with slight trade-offs in screen real estate and battery endurance. The 47mm variant features a 1.4-inch display with a 454 x 454 resolution, weighs 1.7 oz (48 g) with its 22mm ComfortFit band.
Meanwhile, the more compact 43mm version houses a 1.3-inch display with a 416 x 416 resolution and weighs 1.44 oz (41 g) on a 20mm band.

On the course, the Approach S72 relies on a dedicated Golf Mode to deliver comprehensive swing and round analytics. Its Golf Biometric Data tracks heart rate before and after every swing to reveal how pressure impacts performance, while On-Wrist Swing Metrics record hand speed, backswing length, and wrist rotation for form adjustments based on concrete data. Players with an active Garmin Golf Membership can access Green Reading to view slope percentages and putt break directions.
Additional insights, such as putting speed bias, direction bias, make rates, and full-course aerial imagery for strategic shot planning, are accessible through the Garmin Golf app. For practice sessions, Driving Range Mode logs swings directly into the Garmin Connect app, turning range practice into trackable fitness progress.
Beyond its golf features, the Approach S72 is the first device in Garmin’s golf lineup to include a built-in speaker and microphone, enabling on-wrist voice commands as well as the ability to make and receive phone calls.

Off the links, the watch functions as a continuous 24/7 health companion. It tracks wrist-based heart rate, stress levels, body battery energy reserves, and overall sleep quality, while offering preloaded workouts designed to build strength and mobility for future rounds.
In terms of battery performance, the 47mm variant lasts up to 16 days in standard smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in Golf Activity mode. The smaller 43mm version trades off some longevity for its compact size, offering up to 10 days of smartwatch battery life and up to 15 hours of Golf Activity tracking on default settings.
