Huawei Malaysia has confirmed that the Huawei MatePad Air 2026 will officially launch in Malaysia on 18 August 2026.
Serving as the direct successor to the original MatePad Air introduced in 2023, the upgraded tablet brings significant hardware improvements across its display, audio setup, cameras, and battery capacity.
Ahead of its official local debut, the company has kicked off early preorder promotions, including a deposit scheme and bundled freebies valued at over RM4,000.

Customers can place an RM100 deposit ahead of launch to receive an RM500 rebate alongside free gifts worth up to RM4,003.
The promotional bundle includes the Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard, Huawei M Pencil Pro stylus, Huawei Wireless Mouse, a 1 year WPS AI subscription, AI powered Huawei Notes, and Huawei Premium Service.
Buyers who select the Airy Blue or White variants will receive the Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard in the box. Meanwhile, customers opting for the Sakura Pink model will receive the Huawei M Pencil Pro stylus in the box.
While official local retail pricing will only be revealed on 18 August, European pricing for the tablet starts at EUR849 (~RM3,896) for the standard 8GB + 256GB model with keyboard, scaling up to EUR999 (~RM4,639) for the 12GB + 256GB PaperMatte variant.
For comparison, the 2023 first generation MatePad Air launched in Malaysia at RM2,799 for its sole 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, which was exclusively offered in Graphite Black.
The Huawei MatePad Air 2026 will be available for purchase at Huawei Experience Stores as well as official online storefronts, including the Huawei Official Website, Shopee, and Lazada.

The Huawei MatePad Air 2026 gains a larger 12 inch OLED PaperMatte display, stepping up from the 11.5 inch LCD panel seen on its 2023 predecessor.
The upgraded panel features a 2.8K resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits, and a 92% screen to body ratio with 4.6mm ultra narrow bezels.
The screen covers the P3 wide colour gamut with professional level Delta E < 1 colour accuracy, and carries TÜV Rheinland Full Care Display 3.0 and SGS Low Visual Fatigue A+ 3.0 certifications to minimise reflections and glare.
In terms of aesthetics and build, Huawei has abandoned the previous single colour limit, offering the 2026 model in Airy Blue, White, and Sakura Pink.
Despite packing a larger 10,100mAh battery compared to the older generation, the new tablet stays ultra thin at 5.3mm thick and weighs approximately 509 grams.
Huawei also claims the chassis structure is 17% more bend resistant than the MatePad 12 X. The 10,100mAh battery supports 66W Huawei SuperCharge via USB C (USB 3.1 Gen 1) and delivers up to 16 hours of local video playback.
Audio and imaging hardware have both received notable updates. Multimedia playback is now handled by a six speaker crossover sound system tuned by Huawei Sound, replacing the previous quad speaker arrangement.
On the camera front, the rear sensor jumps to a higher resolution 50MP camera with LED flash, complemented by a 12MP front facing camera for video calls and conferences.
Under the hood, the tablet is expected to be powered by a Kirin T93C processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and NearLink support, though cellular 5G connectivity remains absent.
Software receives an update to HarmonyOS 4.3.0 out of the box, with built in productivity applications including the GoPaint drawing app and PC level WPS Office 3.0.
Productivity is further expanded with WPS AI tools, such as Smart Create, AI Slides, and AI Sheet Assistant, alongside AI enabled Huawei Notes supporting speech to text conversion, handwriting refinement, and remote presentation controls via the M Pencil Pro.
