Huawei MatePad Mini: Compact tablet with 8.8″ OLED PaperMatte Display, now available for RM2,199

Huawei has officially launched the MatePad Mini in Malaysia, positioning it as a compact tablet that combines portability with productivity features.

Featuring an 8.8″ PaperMatte display in a ultra-thin 5.2mm form factor, this is essentially Huawei’s answer to the iPad Mini.

As part of its launch promo, Huawei Malaysia is offering freebies worth over RM2,000 which also includes a RM200 discount.

Huawei MatePad Mini Malaysia Pricing

In Malaysia, the Huawei MatePad Mini is offering in a single variant and here’s the official pricing:

  • Huawei MatePad Mini (WiFi) 12GB + 256GB storage – RM2,399

The compact tablet is offered only in Spruce Green and this is a WiFi-only device without cellular connectivity.

The Huawei MatePad Mini can be purchased online via Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.

With the current promo, the Huawei MatePad Mini can be yours for only RM2,199 after deducting the RM200 early bird voucher.

In addition, you also get Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus worth RM599, a Huawei Folio Cover worth RM199 and WPS Office 3.0 worth RM299.

For greater peace of mind, the MatePad Mini also comes with Huawei Premium Services worth RM717. This includes 3-year 1-time Free Battery Replacement, 1-year 2 times Free PaperMatte Display Care and 1-year Free APAC Warranty.

Huawei MatePad Mini Specs and Features

The MatePad Mini is designed as a compact tablet, measuring just 5.2mm thin and weighing 260g. Huawei says the device uses aerospace-grade high-strength materials to enhance durability while maintaining its slim profile.

It features an 8.8-inch Flexible OLED PaperMatte display with a 2.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports a P3 wide colour gamut and delivers up to 1,800 nits peak brightness, paired with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. Huawei combines its X-True display technology with the PaperMatte layer, which is designed to reduce glare while maintaining visual clarity for extended use.

The tablet is powered by a Hexa-core Kirin 9010B chip and it runs on HarmonyOS 4.3.0. Users can discover and download apps via the Huawei AppGallery.

For productivity, the MatePad Mini supports the Huawei M-Pencil Pro, which is bundled as part of the pre-order offer. The stylus includes features such as a Star Ring button for quick app launches, along with pinch and rotation gestures for more intuitive interaction. Huawei also highlights multi-device collaboration within its ecosystem, allowing users to transition between devices more seamlessly.

In terms of camera, it gets a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide macro camera, while the front gets a 32MP camera. Powering the device is a 6,400mAh battery and it supports 66W Supercharge charging via USB-C.
