If you’re looking for a budget smartphone that’s big on display, battery and water resistance, Oppo has just launched its new A5 Pro series. Available in both 4G and 5G variants, these are one of the cheapest phones you can buy in Malaysia that comes with IP66/IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.

The Oppo A5 Pro series come in Mocha Brown and Bloom Pink, while the A5 Pro is offered in Mocha Brown and Olive Green.
As part of its introductory offer, Oppo Malaysia is offering buyers a free OPPOxUEFA Champions League Co-branded Cross-body bag, Oppo Care Plus 1-year liquid protection plan and Oppo Care Plus 1-year screen protection plan. Customers are also given the option to add-on an Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro for an additional RM100 (RRP: RM169).
Oppo A5 Pro and A5 Pro 5G Malaysia Specs and Features
The Oppo A5 Pro and A5 Pro 5G are pretty much the same device except for their respective processor, display refresh rate and 5G support. These budget smartphones claim to offer flagship class durability features which include IP69 rating which means it can survive being submerged up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. In addition, the A5 Pro series has also passed 14 military-grade tests, making it more resistant to accidental drops.
Both come with a 6.67″ HD 720p (1604×720 pixels) LCD display that boasts a maximum brightness of up to 1000 nits. The 4G model supports a 90Hz display refresh rate and runs on an 11nm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 chip, while the 5G version can push up to 120Hz display refresh rate and it runs on a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. Both come with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and and 256GB of UFS storage (UFS 2.1 for 4G, UFS 2.2 for 5G).
For taking pictures, both comes with a dual-camera setup featuring a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2MP monochrome camera for bokeh effects. Oppo has added several AI features which include AI Eraser 2.0 and AI studio. Both are also equipped with an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
Both devices also come with stereo speakers, 360-degree surround antenna for improved signal reception, enhanced by AI LinkBoost.
In terms of connectivity, both supports 802.11ac WiFi 5, NFC and Bluetooth 5.3 for the 5G model (Bluetooth 5.0 for 4G).
Powering the A5 Pro lineup is a large 5,800mAh battery that claims to last up to 36 hours of phone calls andd up to 17 hours of video streaming, for the 5G version. Both models also support 45W SuperVOOC Flash Charge via USB-C. Out of the box, the Oppo A5 Pro and A5 Pro 5G runs on ColorOS 15.0 that’s based on Android 15.
