When it comes to charging, the RWD version supports DC charging up to 175kW while the LR AWD version supports up to 250kW.
Besides a refreshed exterior styling, Tesla claims that they have made their popular EV SUV model even quieter with a redesigned body castings by reducing parts from 70 to 1 for fewer gaps. To improve its quiet ride experience, they have also updated its wheel and tyre package that offers a smoother driving experience with improved grip. The newly upgraded Model Y also boasts an impressive drag coefficient rating of just 0.22Cd which is very close with the Tesla Model 3.
Similar to what they have done with the upgraded Model 3, the new resigned front and back has helped to improve range and performance.
As you would expect from a Tesla Model Y, this EV boasts the best in class for storage offering up to 2,130 of total storage which includes the front trunk. The second row seats now offer power recline while the rear boot now offers hands-free unlocking as you approach the rear of the vehicle.
The interior looks similar to the current Tesla Model 3 with a large 15.4″ touch screen display in the middle while the rear occupants get an 8″ touch screen display. Interestingly, it appears that Tesla has retained a signal stalk on the left side of the steering column while the rear stalk is not present.
With deliveries expected towards late of April, we are expecting the local launch and public preview to take place very soon. It is also worth pointing out that Malaysia is among the first countries in the world to get the new Telsa Model Y as the US site is still showing the previous Model Y.
