EV owners travelling to the East Coast from the Klang Valley now get a new EV charging option on the LPT highway. Shell Recharge has switched on its DC charger located at Temerloh R&R Eastbound, located approximately 64km before Gambang R&R Eastbound.
This is the second high-power DC Fast Charger along the Eastbound direction of LPT between Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan.
Shell 180kW DC Charger at R&R Temerloh Kuantan Bound
For this EV charging location at Shell R&R Temerloh Timur, Shell Recharge has deployed a 180kW DC Charger with two CCS2 nozzles. To activate this charger, you’ll need to use the ParkEasy app (Apple AppStore, Google Play Store) and pay using reloaded credits.
Like most DC Charging locations with a 180kW DC Charger, Shell Recharge charges RM2.20 per kWh and there’s also a RM5.00 confirmation fee to reserve the charging spot. An idle fee of RM8 for every 15 minutes will be imposed, if you do not remove your vehicle 15 minutes after charging is completed.
To activate this EV charger, you’ll need to maintain a minimum credit balance of RM100. As we’ve reported earlier, the RM5.00 confirmation fee will be waived if you claim your EV charging bay within 10 minutes of booking.
Take note that if you have a Shell Recharge membership, you can enjoy cheaper EV charging rates. With a Gold Membership (RM901.80/year), the charger costs RM1.30 per kWh, up to a limit of 850kWh per annum. Users can purchase additional quota of 70kWh for RM80.
If you own a Porsche EV with a 3-year Shell Recharge Platinum membership, it will only cost you RM0.80 per kWh, up to a limit of 850kWh per annum. If you need more quota, you can add 70kWh for RM60.
Shell Recharge now has four EV charging stations along LPT
With the new charging location, Shell Recharge now has a total of four EV charging locations with 180KW DC chargers on the LPT highway. This includes Paka R&R (both East Bound and West Bound), and the recently opened Perasing R&R, which is accessible in both directions of the LPT between Kuantan and Kuala Terengganu.
If you’re driving an EV from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur, Shell Recharge also has an upcoming 180kW DC Charger located at Temerloh R&R West Bound. This would serve as another EV charging alternative to Gambang R&R West Bound which currently has a 50kW DC Charger that could only charge one EV at a time.
Before 2024 comes to an end, we are seeing more Charge Point Operators deploying new EV chargers on the East Coast. TNB Electron has recently deployed DC chargers at Aeon Mall Kota Bharu, Petron Kg Gemuroh Terengganu and Petron Selising Kelantan.
Gentari has recently turned on a 150kW DC charging site at the former NGV pumps located at Petronas Rantau in Kerteh. There are plans to deploy three battery-assisted DC fast charging stations on the East Coast by end of this year.
