Yinson GreenTech (YGT) is now offering free ChargEV charging credit for EV owners who obtain the new Malaysia EV Number Plate for their vehicles. Officially known as the JPJePlate, the new standardised number plate is currently in its pilot phase which involves mandatory fitment on new EVs.

The free charging credit is enough for 36,000 EVs

Each EV owner who obtained the new Malaysia EV Number Plate will be provided with RM20 worth of ChargEV charging credit. Considering the average DC charging fee is RM1.50 per kWh, that is enough to get 13.3kWh of energy.

Since the Neta X 500 Luxury which was featured in the official press image above has a 62kWh battery, that’s around 21% of its battery capacity. This also applies to another vehicle in the photo, the GAC Aion Y Plus which is equipped with a 63.2kWh battery.

YGT said that the free credit will be given to 3,000 JPJePlate holders each month for the next 12 months. Essentially, a total of 36,000 EV owners will receive the free credit throughout the period with an accumulative value of RM720,000.

Credit redemption will take place through the Lugo app

However, the free RM20 ChargEV credit will only be ready for redemption on 22 October. In order to obtain the promo code for the free credit, EV owners have to verify their details using an app called Lugo.

If you are not familiar with the app, Lugo in its current form is a travel app that mainly caters Kumpool, myBAS Johor Bahru, and Causeway Link. It has also been integrated with ManjaPay which provides cashless payment services for myBAS Johor Bahru.
