BMW Malaysia has recently announced the arrival of the iX1 eDrive20 M Sport and this is currently their most affordable fully electric SUV. Unlike the BMW iX1 xDrive30 M Sport which was announced last year, this cheaper model boasts slightly more range as it comes with a single motor on the front axle.
BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sports Malaysia Price
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport is officially priced at RM249,800 (On the road, without insurance) in Malaysia. This 2WD variant is RM26,000 cheaper than the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport variant, which is now going for RM275,800. In fact, this is currently the cheapest new BMW EV you can buy as it is priced lower than the BMW i4 eDrive35 which is now going for RM258,800.
If you want the iX1 eDrive20 M Sport with the BMW Service & Repair inclusive which provides a 5-year unlimited warranty and free scheduled service, it will cost you RM14,200 extra, bumping up the price to RM264,000. The EV also gets an 8-year / 160,000km battery warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline and BMW service online.
BMW Malaysia is also offering its Easy Drive Financing Plan with BMW Group Financial Services in Malaysia where you can own this EV with a monthly instalment plan from RM3,088 (based on a 5-year Easy Drive Plan with 100,000km mileage at 80% loan amount). Customers will also benefit from a RM10,000 Easy Drive Cash Rebate upon registering for the financing plan. Alternatively, you can drive away the iX1 eDrive20 M Sport with a Straight-Line Financing Plan which offers monthly instalments from RM2,942 (based on an estimated 80% loan on a 7-year tenure).
The BMW iX1 eDrove20 M Sport is available for booking at authorised BMW dealerships in Malaysia from 1st May 2024 onwards.
BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sports Key Specs and Features
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport, being an entry-level model, gets a single motor that pushes 150kW (201hp) and 250Nm of torque. The front-wheel-drive electric SUV can get from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and it can go up to a maximum speed of 170km/h. As a comparison, the dual-motor iX1 xDrive30 boasts 230kW (308hp) and 494Nm of torque, and it can do 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds with a top-speed of 180km/h.
For Malaysia, the BMW iX1 eDrive20 still get the M Sport Kit treatment similar to the iX1 xDrive30 variant. This includes the 19″ M double-spoke wheels, M leather steering wheel and sport seats for both front occupants.
The biggest way you can tell this is the new iX1 eDrive20 is the distinctive BMW iX-style kidney grill pattern which is different from the previous xDrive30 version which comes with vertical lines to mimic the traditional grille appearance. The EV is still equipped with 3D adaptive LED headlights, as well as BMW’s iconic L-shaped taillights.
On the inside, it gets BMW’s driver-focused curved display which consists of a 10.25″ main infotainment display and a 10.7″ instrument cluster. The EV features BMW Live Cockpit professional, powered by the latest BMW OS 9. Harman Kardon sound system is also included and the infotainment system also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In the safety department, it still offers Driving Assistant, Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus which includes adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, active park distance control, reverse assistant and rear cross-traffic warning with brake intervention warning.
Juicing up this EV is a 64.8kWh battery with a WLTP-rated range of 475km, which is 35km more than the xDrive30 variant (440km WLTP). It supports 11kW AC and up to 130kW of DC charging. According to BMW, the iX1 eDrive20 M Sport can obtain 120km of range with just 10 minutes of charging. A full charge on AC will take over 6 hours while 10-80% on DC charging will take about 30 minutes.
