Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer Gigabyte has announced that they will be bringing in some new gaming laptops into Malaysia. The star here is their new 16-inch model, the Gigabyte Aorus 16X, offering up to an Intel Core i9 and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 with a solid high refresh rate display to go along with it.

Gigabyte Aorus 16X Malaysia pricing and availability

The Gigabyte Aorus 16X is already available in Malaysia from the official Gigabyte store on Shopee and Lazada as well as their flagship Gigabyte store in Plaza Lowyat. There will be three configurations available for the new Aorus 16X, with the following recommended retail prices:

  • Gigabyte Aorus 16X, Intel Core i7-14650HX, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4060 – RM7,119
  • Gigabyte Aorus 16X, Intel Core i7-14650HX, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4070 – RM8,259
  • Gigabyte Aorus 16X, Intel Core i9-14900HX, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4070 – RM9,289

Gigabyte Aorus 16X specs

The Gigabyte Aorus 16X sits a little too big to be really considered a portable gaming machine, but at the same time won’t be as big and heavy as your usual desktop replacement laptops, measuring 1.06 inches thick when closed and weighing in at 2.3kg. Open up the lid and you’ll find a 16-inch, 16:10 IPS display pushing a WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution with full coverage of the sRGB colour gamut, a peak brightness of 400nits, a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. Gigabyte also touted the display having extra slim bezels with a 91% screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the Aorus 16X is available with either the Intel Core i7-14650HX or the Intel Core i9-14900HX. The former comes with 16GB of DDR5 5600MHz RAM out of the box while the latter gets 32GB of RAM, with the laptop available to support up to 64GB. It also has two M.2 SSD slots for up to 4TB of storage, though they come with 1TB stock. As for graphics, you’ll find either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or the RTX 4070, with a max TGP of 140W. Keeping it all cool is their Windforce Infinity cooling system with dual fans. There’s also their AI Nexus software which has AI to let you tune your laptop’s performance.

As for I/O, the Aorus 16X comes with two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, a DisplayPort 1.4 output, an Ethernet port, a HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. You’ll also find a pair of 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a 99Wh battery, a 3-zone RGB backlit keyboard with 1.7mm key travel and support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity.
