DC Handal deploys 200kW Kempower DC charger at Bangsar South with 6 charging bays

DC Handal continues to expand its EV charging network and one of its largest deployments yet is at Bangsar South. Besides the standalone 100kW Kempower DC Charger on the ground floor of The Vertical (Lazada HQ), there’s now an even larger DC charging station with a total of 6 bays.

DC Handal has installed three Kempower satellite terminals equipped with two CCS2 nozzles each at UG, The Sphere at Bangsar South. There are a total of 6 charging bays and they are located in front of Family Mart.

Similar to other DC Handal sites, you can activate and pay for EV charging by tapping your credit, debit or prepaid cards on the card terminal. Since it supports contactless payments, you can also use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay to tap and pay for your charging session.

For this location, there are three contactless card terminals and each is dedicated to two nozzles. The chargers are priced at RM1.50 per kWh.

If you’re planning to pay using a debit or prepaid card, take note that there’s a pre-authorisation amount of RM50 each time you tap your card. It might take a few days to get a refund of the balance pre-authorisation amount. If you prefer to use an app, you can use JomCharge and ChargEV to activate the chargers.

For this DC Handal location, the six Kempower DC charge points offer up to a maximum of up to 200kW for 800V EVs or up to 120kW for 400V EVs. To maximise charging efficiency, these Kempower chargers use Dynamic Power sharing to ensure a better distribution of charging capacity based on the charge demand for each vehicle. Since EVs have a DC charging curve, an EV will have less demand when it hits a high state of charge, and these Kempower chargers will intelligently free up the capacity to other EVs that are plugged in.

You can check out the video below for a better idea of Kempower’s Dynamic Power sharing solution:

With the latest installation DC Handal now has 14 DC charge points for the entire Bangsar South, making it one of the largest EV charging hubs in the Klang Valley. Here’s the list of chargers in the same vicinity:

  • The Horizon B1 – Autel 30kW (2 nozzles)
  • The Sphere UG – Kempower 200kW x 6 nozzles
  • The Vertical GF – Kempower 100kW x 2 nozzles
  • The Vertical B1 [Pillar Aa13] – 2x Autel 47kW (2 nozzles each)

In case you missed it, DC Handal has recently turned on its Wisma MCA, KL EV charging site. It also uses a Kempower DC charger with 3 nozzles that can deliver up to 150kW.
