ChargEV has announced a price hike for its AC and DC chargers at Berjaya Times Square. The Berjaya Times Square EV charging location is quite popular as it offers one of the cheapest and fastest DC charging rates in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
According to ChargEV, the DC Charger which is located at the ground floor main entrance of the mall will cost RM1.60 per kWh for non-members or RM1.20 per kWh for ChargEV members.
Meanwhile, their AC charge points will be priced at RM1.00 per kWh for non-members and RM0.80 per kWh for members.
ChargEV said in their Facebook post that the rising regulatory and energy surcharge costs have now made adjusting their price necessary. It added that their focus remains on maintaining fair pricing for today’s EV drivers and they have minimised the impact on ChargEV members by maintaining the DC charging rate at RM1.20 per kWh.
The ChargEV membership costs RM240 per year and users can register/renew it on the ChargEV app.
Since April 2023, the ChargEV DC chargers are offered at a promotional rate of RM1.20 per kWh while the AC charge points are priced at RM0.80 per kWh for non-members and RM0.60 per kWh for members. Currently, the ChargEV app is still showing the current promotional rates and we expect the new pricing to take effect soon.
The Berjaya Times Square location features a Kempower DC Charger with two satellite terminals equipped with a CCS2 port. On the ChargEV app, the chargers are rated to push a maximum of 225kW but the terminal itself is showing 320kW for 800V and 200kW for 400V vehicles. We even managed to get a charging rate of 234kW on a Kia EV6.
Take note that charging your vehicle at these chargers will occupy the valet parking space and you can occupy the space for free for up to 30 minutes.
For AC charging, ChargEV has 6 AC charge points at the B1 basement carpark that can push up to 22kW. However, you’ll have to pay for the applicable parking fees for Berjaya Times Square.
Several charge point operators have recently revised their EV charging rates with higher kWh-based pricing. ParkEasy has announced that its Shell Recharge AC charger pricing will be migrated from hourly to RM1 per kWh rates. Meanwhile, 1 Utama has also announced a price revision for its EV charging facility and they will also charge RM1 per kWh utilised.
