Manchester United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, has announced a deal with US tech giant Qualcomm where the latter will become the new shirt sponsor for the club. This will see the Qualcomm Snapdragon logo displayed front and center of the iconic red shirt.
In a press statement issued by Manchester United, the club has confirmed that they will partnering with Qualcomm as their shirt sponsors from the start of the 2024/2025 season onwards. The Snapdragon logo will be on the home, away and third kits for both the men’s and the women’s teams. The club already has an existing commercial partnership with Qualcomm as their global partner, with Qualcomm even advising the club on how to improve mobile connectivity at their Old Trafford stadium.
Neither Manchester United nor the club revealed how much the deal is worth, but reports indicate that the deal will see Qualcomm forking over USD75.1 million per year to be their shirt sponsor. The current shirt sponsor for Manchester United is incidentally also a tech company, with the Germany-based software firm TeamViewer paying United around USD58 million a year in their current deal.
As for Qualcomm, they themselves are no stranger when it comes to partnering up with sports giants to further promote the Snapdragon brand. If you’re a fan of Formula 1, the next time you’re watching George Russell or Lewis Hamilton finish outside of the podium, keep your eyes peeled on their rear wing and you might just spot the Snapdragon logo on it too.
