To support the Ministry of Transport’s initiative to offer flights to East Malaysia at fixed fares, AirAsia has announced its special promo in conjunction with the upcoming Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations. With the RM300 ticket price cap (excluding taxes) initiative, AirAsia is offering one-way flights from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah at RM352 all-in and flights to Sarawak at RM346 all-in.
The RM352 all-in one-way flights to Sabah destinations are available for the travel period between 27 and 29 May 2023. Meanwhile, the RM346 all-in one-way flights to Sarawak destinations are available between 29 and 31 May 2023. The all-in price includes taxes, relevant fees, fuel surcharge as well a 20kg baggage allowance. The 20 kg check-in baggage is marked as “free baggage” and is to be selected during booking. The sales for these fixed fares are available from 20 to 31 May 2023.

To save more, BigPay users can enjoy 5% off on all AirAsia flights with the flight code “AK” by using the promo code BIGPAY5. This 5% discount is available until 31 December 2023.
Commenting on the initiative, AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said “As the airline that has been consistently ensuring fixed fare availability during the last few festive celebrations, we are pleased to support this initiative once again, through the Ministry of Transport Malaysia.”
“In addition to supporting this initiative, we have also added additional commercial flights from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru to Sibu to alleviate capacity constraints to both of these destinations for these festive periods. Our mid-range affiliate airline, AirAsia X which operates a larger widebody fleet, will also be operating a service from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu to ensure extra capacity is available to meet corresponding demand,” he added.
Riad also revealed that the government has subsidised 5,534 seats from AirAsia and AirAsia X which enables them to offer flight tickets at fixed fares for the upcoming festive season. As announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke yesterday, the government bought 17,708 tickets from airlines and is selling them at a maximum discount price of RM300 (excluding taxes and fees). The subsidy for this initiative is estimated to be between RM5.8 million to RM11.4 million.
Guests travelling during Kaamatan and Gawai week are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours ahead of their scheduled departure time to avoid congestion. Guests are encouraged to check in online using the AirAsia SuperApp which is available as early as 14 days before the departure date.
