If you’ve been enjoying affordable EV charging with Gentari’s kWh-based rates, be prepared to pay more for your next charge. According to a notification from Setel, the promotional period for kWh charging has ended for Gentari’s EV charging hubs at Xpark Sunway Serene, Bangi Golf Resort, Petronas Bandar Baru Ayer Hitam and Petronas Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (JSAS) in Ipoh.

Setel announces new charging rates for Gentari chargers

Here are the new kWh charging rates for the four charging hubs:

  • AC Charging (7kW, 11kW, 22kW) – RM0.90 per kWh
  • DC Charging (20kW, 30kW) – RM1.30 per kWh
  • DC Charging (50kW – 180kW) – RM1.50 per kWh
  • DC Charging (350kW) – RM1.70 per kWh

Compared with the previous rates, AC Charging now costs 63% more while DC Charging costs up to 50% more. For example, if you’ve been paying RM40 to get 40kWh worth of charging at Gentari’s 60kW DC Charger at Ipoh, you’ll now have to pay RM60. Meanwhile, a 40kWh charge at Gentari’s 350kW DC Charger at Xpark Sunway Serene which used to cost RM48, will now cost you RM68.

At the time of writing, the new rates are not reflected yet for both Setel and JomCharge as both apps are still showing the current promotional rate of RM1.00 per kWh for DC charging up to 180kW and RM1.20 per kWh for DC charging up to 350kWh. Meanwhile, rates for other Gentari EV charges that are time-based remain unchanged for now.

Gentari previous promotional kWh-based charging rates

The previous EV charging rates of RM1.00 per kWh for up to 180kW DC Charging and RM1.20 per kWh for 350kW DC Charging were introduced on 1st December 2022 as a promotional rate in conjunction with the launch of Southeast Asia’s first 350kW DC chargers. Similarly, ChargEV’s fastest Kempower chargers capable of up to 320kW (800V) at Berjaya Times Square are currently offered at RM1.20 per kWh as a promotion rate until the end of April 2023.
