Apple has just announced its updated MacBook Pro 14 and 16, as well as the Mac Mini for 2023 that runs on their latest Apple M2 series chip. With the 2nd generation Apple Silicon, the new 2023 Macs offer improved CPU and GPU performance but it retains the same design as the previous model. For Malaysia, interestingly Apple has reduced the starting price for the Mac Mini while the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 still retain the same starting price as the 2021 model.
Apple MacBook Pro 14 / 16 M2 Malaysia Price
The MacBook Pro 14 and 16 are now offered with Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max chips that can be customised with various CPU and GPU core variations. There’s now the option to upgrade the unified memory to up to 96GB and storage to up to 8TB. Here is the pricing for the M2-powered MacBook Pro 14 and 16 2023 in Malaysia:
- MacBook Pro 14 (M2 Pro 10-core CPU+16-core GPU, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD) – RM8,799
- MacBook Pro 14 (M2 Pro 12-core CPU+19-core GPU, 16GB Memory, 1TB SSD) – RM10,799
- MacBook Pro 14 (M2 Max 12-core CPU+30-core GPU, 32GB Memory, 1TB SSD) – RM13,199
- MacBook Pro 16 (M2 Pro 12-core CPU+19-core GPU, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD) – RM10,799
- MacBook Pro 16 (M2 Pro 12-core CPU+19-core GPU, 16GB Memory, 1TB SSD) – RM11,599
- MacBook Pro 16 (M2 Max 12-core CPU+38-core GPU, 32GB Memory, 1TB SSD) – RM14,799
If you want the most powerful MacBook Pro configuration with the M2 Max chip with 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU, 96GB of unified memory and 8TB of SSD, it will cost you RM25,999 for the MacBook Pro 14 and RM26,799 for the MacBook Pro 16. With the same configuration, the 16″ model is RM800 more expensive than the 14″ version.
At the moment, the new MacBook Pro with the M2 chip are still not available for pre-order yet in Malaysia and it will be going on sale in first-wave countries starting next week, 24th January 2023.
Apple Mac Mini M2 Malaysia Price
The Mac Mini which has been the cheapest Mac you can buy is now RM500 cheaper than the previous M1-powered model released in 2020. Unlike the MacBook Pro, the new Mac Mini for 2023 is offered with the baseline Apple M2 chip and the mid-tier M2 Pro. You can configure the Mac Mini with up to 32GB of memory and up to 8TB of SSD. Here’s the official pricing for the M2-powered Mac Mini in Malaysia:
- Mac Mini (M2 8-core CPU+10-core GPU, 8GB Memory, 256GB SSD) – RM2,499
- Mac Mini (M2 8-core CPU+10-core GPU, 8GB Memory, 512GB SSD) – RM3,299
- Mac Mini (M2 Pro 10-core CPU+16-core GPU, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD) – RM5,599
With all the hardware configurations maxed out including the 10Gbps Ethernet option, the Mac Mini with M2 Pro 12-core GPU, 19-core GPU, 32GB memory and 8TB SSD costs RM18,399. Interestingly, for the same price, you could get the Mac Studio with M1 Max 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU, 32GB memory and 8TB SSD.
