The Nokia 8210 was an iconic device launched in 1999 and it was one of Nokia’s lightest and most compact phones yet. Fast forward to over 20 years later, the Finnish brand has reintroduced the device with 4G and it joins the rest of its throwback device lineup such as the Nokia 3310, 5310, 6300, 8000, 8110 and 6310.
The Nokia 8210 4G is officially priced at RM299 in Malaysia and it’s offered in Dark Blue and Red. If you’re interested, you can buy the Nokia 8210 4G online from the official store on Lazada and Shopee. According to Nokia Malaysia, the device is also sold at authorised Nokia Mobile retailers.
Like most Nokia throwback devices, the 8210 4G is a basic dual-SIM feature phone which supports 4G as well as Voice over LTE (VoLTE). It has a 2.8″ colour QVGA display plus your typical feature-phone keypad and buttons to navigate around the S30+ operating system.
According to the spec-sheet, it runs on Unisoc T107 with 48MB of RAM and 128MB of storage. If you need more storage, it has a microSD card slot which supports up to 32GB. The phone has an MP3 player and a wireless FM radio feature that works without plugging in a headset. If you need to take pictures, it gets a basic 0.3MP camera at the rear but there’s none at the front for selfies.
The device gets a removable 1,450mAh battery which still charges with a “retro” micro USB port. According to Nokia, it has a standby time of up to 19 days and talk time of up to 6 hours with dual-SIM and 4G on a single charge. Besides supporting 4G, 8210 4G also supports Bluetooth 5.0 and it comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Overall, the 8210 4G is 13.8mm thick and weighs 107 grams.
If you’re thinking of using this as a primary device, do note that most online banking apps are moving away from SMS to more secure authentication methods. For about the same price, you could get an entry-level Android phone that has a bigger screen and wider access to popular apps.
