Malaysia’s new low-cost carrier MYAirline had a rocky start as potential travellers couldn’t find any flights during its first-day sale. MYAirline CEO Rayner Teo has apologised for the problem with its new booking engine due to unexpected technical glitches and massive traffic. At the time of writing, the airline has managed to restore its booking engine but they are only opening flight bookings for the first two months of operations.

As shared on their Facebook page, customers can now book MYAirline flights for the travel period of December to January 2023. Bookings for the travel period for February to March 2023 will be open next Tuesday, 29th November 2022. As a gesture of goodwill, MYAirline is offering a RM10 voucher for your next booking.

To recap, MYAirline will commence commercial passenger service from 1st December with only three routes – Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. According to their schedule, they will operate two daily return flights between Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi, and one daily return flight between Kuala Lumpur to Kuching. The airline will gradually add more flight frequencies towards the end of December. From the drop-down menu for destination and arrivals, it looks like MYAirline is looking at serving Kota Bharu, Penang, Tawau and Sibu very soon.

Checks revealed that the online booking engine on their website is currently working normally. We managed to find flights between Kuala Lumpur to Kuching from as low as RM68 one way and flights between Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu from RM88 one way.

A return flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu (8th to 13th December) costs RM300 all-in which includes taxes, Nasi Lemak meal and 15kg of checked luggage allowance for both ways. MYAirline charges between RM10 to RM48 if you want to pick your seat or you can let them auto-assign the seat for you during check-in. In terms of payment, MYAirline accepts credit/debit cards, online banking as well as Grab and Zapp eWallet.

MYAirline has recently received its full air service licence (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM). It currently has three Airbus A320-200 in its fleet with a single class 180 economy seat configuration. The airline currently focuses on domestic routes before expanding to regional destinations in Q2 2023.
