If you’re looking for a new laptop that offers a large screen at an affordable price, Asus Malaysia has announced its new Vivobook 16X laptop powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors. As the name implies, this is a 16″ laptop and it’s priced just a hair under RM3,000.
Asus Vivobook 16X Malaysia Pricing and Availability
The Asus Vivobook 16X (M1603) is only offered in one spec variant with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage, and it’s officially priced at RM2,999 in Malaysia. The laptop is offered in either Quiet Blue or Transparent Silver, and is available starting today, 12th October through official Asus official stores and retailers in Malaysia.
At the moment, it’s not available on the official Asus laptop store on both Lazada and Shopee, but we reckon it will be available online at a later time.
Asus Vivobook 16X Malaysia Specs
The Asus Vivobook 16X features a 16.0″ WUXGA IPS panel that offers a Full HD 1920×1200 pixels resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio. The LED-backlit panel supports a maximum brightness of 300nits and it has a 86% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, it runs on a 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor that’s paired with AMD Radeon Vega 7 graphics. For Malaysia, the laptop is only offered with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB of M.2 NVMe PCI3 3.0 SSD.
To keep things cool during intensive processing, the laptop is equipped with Asus IceCool cooling system that features a 87-blade fan and impeller made of a liquid-crystal polymer. Paired with dual heat pipes, Asus says the cooling system allows the Ryzen 5 5600H processor to run with a 45W total TDP in performance mode with no throttling.
The Vivobook 16X features a full-sized backlit chiclet keyboard with a numeric keypad and it offers 1.4mm of key travel. For instant unlocking, there’s an integrated fingerprint sensor on the touchpad. Also included is a 720p HD webcam that comes with a physical “privacy shield” shutter. For better video conference calls, Asus offers real-time 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) technology to improve image clarity and there’s also a Motion Tracking feature to always keep you in the centre of the frame.
In terms of ports, the laptop has a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI output and an audio combo jack. The Vivobook 16X also supports 802.11ax WiFi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.0. For better hygiene, Asus has also added an antibacterial guard to the Vivobook 16X which claims to inhibit the growth of bacteria by more than 99% over a 24-hour period. The extra protection claims to keep your laptop clean and sanitary for up to 3 years. Asus also claims that the laptop meets US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standards for better durability.
The Vivobook 16X gets a 50Whr 3-cell Li-Ion battery and it gets a 90W AC power adapter. Overall, it weighs 1.88kg and is 1.99cm thick. It comes with a 16″ WUXGA (1920×1200) display, an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
