If you’re travelling to neighbouring ASEAN countries, Digi has enhanced its international roaming passes which allows you to stay connected with more data for less. Its typical data roaming pass which offers 2GB of internet and 30 minute of voice calls for selected countries at RM25 now comes with 4GB roaming data if you’re travelling to Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Previously, Digi offered double the data quota when you connect to a Telenor telco such as DTac in Thailand.
Take note that the RM25 for 3 days roaming pass is valid for one country only and it is applicable to both Digi postpaid and prepaid users. To activate the pass, just use the MyDigi app, click on Buy Add-ons and select roaming. To avoid bill shocks, it is advisable to keep your Data Roaming settings on your phone off until you have purchased the pass and connected to the right network. Alternatively, you can also buy the roaming pass by dialling *800*3# on your phone when you arrive at your destination.
If you’re travelling to multiple countries, Digi also offers a weekly roaming pass. The Europe 7-day pass offers 2GB of data for RM50 but it can only be used in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic. Meanwhile, the World Traveller 7-Day pass comes with 7GB data and 60 minutes of voice calls and it costs RM50 for a single-country use. Despite being a “world” pass, the FAQ states that it is only applicable in Australia, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and United States.
Looking at the Digi Roaming page, the yellow telco is also planning to introduce a longer 14-day pass for Asia as well as for Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. There’s no pricing yet but it is listed as “Coming Soon”. Digi offers one of our favourite roaming passes on prepaid. Meanwhile, U Mobile is currently offering 5GB data roaming from as low as RM10/day, while Hotlink offers 5G data roaming in selected countries from as low as RM10/day with 1GB quota.
