Capture cinematic wide shots with XPan Mode
Now, the feature that gives your photos a new and different perspective is XPan mode, which allows you to capture wide aspect ratio images using your Find X5 Pro 5G. This feature is directly lifted from Hasselblad’s much-revered film camera of the same name.
Making its debut in 1998, the Hasselblad XPan utilised a dual-format concept allowing it to produce both conventional, 24 x 36mm format and wide (panorama), 24 x 65mm format on the same film. To capture a wide aspect ratio shot, the camera would expose two frames of the film.
On the Find X5 Pro, the XPan mode can be accessed in the “More” section of the settings belt in the camera app. The entire UI will transform, and the aspect ratio will change to recreate the vintage ultra-wide panoramic 24 x 65mm film format of the Hasselblad XPan camera.
Shooting pictures in XPan mode provides a different experience with an 8:3 aspect ratio compared to the usual 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. Thanks to the extra width, you get to capture more of the scene, giving your photos a new perspective with a cinematic look.
According to OPPO, the XPan mode is preferred by many photographers around the world when shooting landscapes, streets, and even portraits.
Remove the colour to give your pictures a new perspective
Further opening new shooting possibilities is the monochrome style in the XPan mode which uses a custom black and white colour profile created by Hasselblad. It can be easily toggled with the button at the top right hand of the screen in the XPan mode.
Monochrome photos are normally used to emphasise the subject in the frame or to express a desired emotion of the photographer.
Switch up the colours with Hasselblad Master Style filters
Last, but certainly not least, is the addition of three Hasselblad Master Style filters – Radiance, Serenity, and Emerald, which were created in cooperation with three Hasselblad photographers. The colour profiles of each filter are unique with Radiance having a yellowish tint, Serenity displaying a slight blueish tint, and Emerald having a stronger blue tint.
All these Hasselblad-inspired features are easily accessible from the native camera app, allowing you to seamlessly switch up the shot.
