Want to get your hands on the world’s first curved display smartphone? Now you can.
The Samsung Galaxy Round is available in Malaysia and it can be yours for a smidgen under RM3,400. The Galaxy Round is, at the moment, only sold in Korea but some enterprising grey importers have managed to bring a few units to Malaysia. The price may seem a little steep but if you take into account that the Galaxy Round is actually sold for about 1.09 million Won in its native country, which is about RM3,250 if converted directly, then the price is not that bad after all — relatively speaking of course.
Samsung says the Galaxy Round is the world’s first curved display smartphone. The device features a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED 1080p (1080×1920 pixels 386ppi) display that’s similar to the Galaxy Note 3 except for the fact that its pronouncedly curved. In terms of specs, the Galaxy Round packs a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM and a 2,800mAh battery. There’s a 13MP camera at the back that can shoot both 1080p and 4K videos, and a 2MP front camera with 1080p video capabilities.
Aside from being a more curvy Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Round introduces a new UI called “Round Interaction”. The interface takes advantage of the Galaxy Round’s curvy form factor allowing users to “peek” at notification like text messages received and missed calls by simply rocking the device. You can see this in action in the video after the jump (along with an unboxing video).
So, would fork out RM3,400 for the privilege of owning this oddity? If you’re keen, see here for details.
