On today’s Ask Us Anything, or AUA… we’re talking about smartphone variants, the best way to charge your devices, and we’re also going to touch on our Jollibee video–where the comments section is a riot. Let’s go!
Why do smartphone manufacturers have so many variants?
So, not all of us can own the latest and greatest smartphone when it comes out. Let’s take the latest iPhone 13 series for example.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max can cost up to RM7,599, but if you’re more on a budget and would still like a new iPhone from the same lineup, there’s an option for you to get something like the iPhone 13 mini for RM3,399 as the cheapest option for the new phones.
For Android, let’s talk about Samsung. The highest variant right now is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which can go for up to RM7,099. Compare that to the cheapest Samsung you can get in the market right now- which is the Samsung Galaxy M02 for RM399.
It can make a world of a difference for all sorts of customers. Companies see that and they’ll keep flooding the market with the many options they can offer. And basically, it can also give customers the choice for phones based on their budget, preferences, and needs. Rory adds that the other factor is for the companies to make money, basically.
Does charging overnight affect your phone’s battery lifespan?
According to some of my co-workers, none of them really one-up each other. But the thing you really need to be aware of, if you’re concerned about your phone’s battery life, is that it’s recommended that you charge your phone to 90%… not 100%… if you want to make your battery life last longer. According to TechAdvisor, the golden rule is to keep your battery topped up somewhere between 30% and 90% most of the time.
Personally? I like to slow charge my phone overnight. I’ve had my iPhone 11 for about a couple of years, and its battery already isn’t too great. So, maybe by charging it to just 90% instead of 100%, my phone would be a lot happier. Let me know what you prefer, though.
Is it suitable to use Uniqlo’s Airism mask to double mask?
So, Alex, my boss and fried chicken expert, has been double masking with the Uniqlo Airism mask and the regular surgical mask. Double masking is always recommended!
But low key, he says it’s also because the first-gen Uniqlo Airism mask can be a little hard to breathe in—not because of its thickness, but because the cloth can get sucked in when you breathe. Double masking with a surgical mask can help retain the same of the mask.
I’m currently testing out Uniqlo’s second-gen Airism mask, the Uniqlo Airism 3D mask. It’s slightly pricier, but it’s got all the benefits of the first-gen mask… but its shape is a lot better. The cloth doesn’t get sucked in when you try to breathe, and you still feel protected.
But if you still want to double mask, the masks are breathable and comfortable enough for you to do that.
Is Jollibee gravy… brown sauce?
To add context, we called Jollibee’s gravy “brown sauce”, and many of you commented to say that it’s gravy. Fair. It’s gravy. But we call gravy brown sauce sometimes. Anthony Bourdain also called the Jollibee gravy brown sauce.
We also received quite a lot of…. Let’s say… passionate comments from Jollibee fans online about what our thoughts were. I gotta be honest, the Jollibee we tried at the newly opened branch at Sunway Pyramid wasn’t what I expected. It might have been poorly made, which contributed to my coworkers’ opinions.
And for those who said that we should do a Jollibee/Marrybrown showdown to see which one is better… who said we liked Marrybrown?
