Oppo has today launched their new flagship Find X5 series today, with the Oppo Find X5 and the Oppo Find X5 Pro. It comes with some significantly big claims in terms of photography capabilities while still coming with all the bits and bobs you’d expect in a flagship smartphone today.

So far, we know that the series will officially launch in Europe sometime in March, but local availability and pricing has yet to be confirmed by Oppo Malaysia. Furthermore, it seems as though only the Oppo Find X5 Pro will actually be available in Malaysia officially, while the Oppo Find X5 will likely be limited to China, Oceania, the Middle East and Europe at launch, though Oppo Malaysia could still launch it locally sometime later in the year.

Oppo Find X5 Pro specs
The Oppo Find X5 Pro continues where the Oppo Find X3 Pro left off, with a similar design philosophy all around. It packs a large 6.7-inch, WQHD+ curved AMOLED display capable of a 120Hz refresh rate with LTPO 1.0. The display has a 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and the 10-bit screen is able to produce over a billion colours too. Oppo also included 8192-level screen dimming on the Find X5 Pro to better match pupil adjustment speeds across different lighting conditions for a more comfortable viewing experience. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus over it for protection as well.
Under the hood, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 system-on-chip with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It’ll come with ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 out of the box. Oppo also showed off a bunch of new Android features that are coming to the Oppo Find X5 Pro first, which includes Nearby Share, an Apple AirDrop like sharing feature. Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh dual cell battery, a notable upgrade over the Oppo Find X3 Pro’s 4,500mAh battery. It also has an 80W SuperVOOC fast charging technology that Oppo claims will juice up your battery from near empty to 50% in just 12 minutes, while there’s 50W AirVOOC wireless charging too.
Where the Oppo Find X5 Pro shines will likely be in the camera department. While it technically maintains a very similar lineup and even has one camera less—Oppo has dropped the microscope that was on the Oppo Find X3 Pro—but does come with the new MariSilicon X. It’s Oppo’s custom image neural processing unit that will be able to provide 4x greater image clarity, as well as 4K Ultra Night Video for some of the best low light videography on an Android smartphone. This is on top of Hasselblad Natural Colour Calibration in Pro Mode, providing a range of filers and colour profiles.
As for the actual camera hardware itself, you’re looking at a triple camera setup with a 50MP, f/1.7 main camera flanked by a 50MP, f/2.2 ultra wide camera and a 13MP telephoto shooter capable of 5x hybrid zoom with 20x digital zoom as well. The first two 50MP cameras meanwhile both use the 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX766 image sensor, with the main camera also coming with a five-axis OIS system onboard. As for the front camera, you’re looking at a 32MP, f/2.4 selfie shooter using the new Sony IMX709 sensor that was co-developed by Oppo and Sony.
The back of the device meanwhile is made of ceramic which Oppo says is stronger while helping out with heat dissipation. The Oppo Find X5 Pro has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos along with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating too. There’s NFC support as well as 5G, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while the fingerprint sensor is located under the display. The Oppo Find X5 Pro will come in two different colourways: Ceramic White and Glaze Black.

As for the non-Pro model, the Oppo Find X5 has a number of similarities with its more premium brother. For example, it has the same triple camera setup on the rear as well as the same front camera as well on top of the MariSilicon X custom NPU for better imaging quality. It also has the same ColourOS 12.1 operating system based on Android 12. You’ll find an under display fingerprint sensor along with stereo speakers too.
However, it’s pretty different almost everywhere else—internally and externally. The most obvious change is that it gets a smaller 6.55-inch, FHD+ OLED display capable of up to 120Hz. While it does have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection on the front, it loses the ceramic back with another layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on the back instead. Curiously, it doesn’t have an IP rating either.
Things are also different under the hood, as it gets last year’s flagship Snapdragon 888 rather than the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. That gets mated to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The differences continue in the battery department. While the larger Oppo Find X5 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery, the smaller Oppo Find X5 gets a smaller battery too at 4,800mAh. It still has the 80W SuperVOOC fast charging though its wireless charging has been cut to just 30W.
Other than that though, it has pretty much everything else that the Oppo Find X5 Pro has too. The Oppo Find X5 will come in either white or black, and both devices will also have the 80W SuperVOOC charger in the box.
