The Huawei Watch GT Runner is exactly what you might expect. It’s a watch for runners, and is Huawei’s first watch specifically designed for that purpose. Along with the Watch GT 3, the GT Runner is debuting in Malaysia on November 20th.

Design-wise, the GT Runner looks pretty sporty, with its silicone straps and composite fibre watch case keeping it light at 38.5g. It has a simple, but rugged look that might compliment the tastes of a runner.

Huawei Watch GT Runner features

When it comes to features, Huawei included their Running Ability Index (RAI) feature which combines things like your endurance level, heart rate, pace, and distance to tell you how efficient your running technique is. It also comes with an ‘Intelligent Dynamic Adjustment Plan’, which is essentially a customised training plan that takes your RAI into account.

The GT Runner features a “hidden floating external antenna”, which apparently boosts the signal reception by 135% compared to a traditional design. This means the watch is able to get your location in only three to five seconds.

Huawei also increased the accuracy of its heart rate monitoring on this watch, and included an always-on display which is always nice for modern wearables. The watch can also give you daily reminders for things like steps or hydration.

Powering the GT Runner is a battery that should provide 14 days of use and also supports wireless charging. The GT Runner will be running on Huawei’s new HarmonyOS 2, an operating system meant to run on multiple different types of devices.

Pricing and availability

In China, the Huawei Watch GT Runner is priced at CNY 2,188 (about RM1,434) and it will come in two colours – Black and Gray. It’s already available for pre-order in China, but it will only be on sale starting November 26th.

According to Huawei, the GT Runner is set to officially launch during the Huawei Roadshow on the 20th of November. Also launching along with the GT Runner is the Watch GT 3 and the FreeBuds Lipstick, a pair of wireless earbuds that look like lipstick.
