COVID-19: August is the worst month with a total of 7,640 deaths and 632,982 cases

Malaysia has recorded 20,897 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,746,254. There are 282 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 16,664.

In August alone, Malaysia has recorded 632,982 new cases and 7,640 deaths. That’s an average of 20,418.7 cases and 246.45 deaths per day.

The Ministry of Health has reported 18.465 new recoveries and a total of 1,461,727 patients have recovered and been discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.71% while the mortality rate is now 0.95%.

There are currently 267,863 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,005 are in ICU while 464 require respiratory support.

Out of the 20,897 new cases today, 1 is imported while 20,896 are transmitted locally. Selangor still recorded the most with 4,371 cases, followed by Sabah with 2,594 cases, Sarawak with 2,285 cases, Johor with 2,159 cases and Penang with 1,732 cases.
