COVID-19: Record-high 9,180 cases today, there are over 80,000 active cases with 959 in ICU

Malaysia has recorded a record-high 9,180 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 817,838. This beats the previous record of 9,020 cases reported on 29th May. There are 77 new deaths reported today and the death toll is now 5,980.

The Ministry of Health has reported 5,713 new recoveries and a total of 731,193 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 89.41% while the mortality rate is now 0.73%.

There are currently 80,665 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 959 are in ICU while 465 require respiratory support.

Out of the 9,180 new cases today, 7 are imported while 9,173 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 4,400 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,271 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 899 cases and Kedah with 417 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 30 new clusters today and 21 are workplace-related. Below is the breakdown by states:
