COVID-19: 5,841 new cases and 84 deaths reported today, nearly 2,000 deaths recorded in June so far

Malaysia has recorded 5,841 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 716,847. There are 84 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 4,721.

The Ministry of Health has reported 5,411 new recoveries and a total of 650,964 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.81% while the mortality rate is now 0.66%.

There are currently 61,162 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 869 are in ICU while 438 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,841 new cases today, 8 are imported while 5,833 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,072 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 781 cases, Sarawak with 581 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 552 cases.

A total of 30 new clusters have been identified today and 21 are workplace-related. Below is the breakdown of new clusters by states:
