COVID-19: New cases jump to 6,440 today. Negeri Sembilan, KL and Selangor each record over 800 cases

After 6 days of reporting less than 6,000 cases, new COVID-19 cases have risen to 6,440 today. This is the highest reported in a day since 12th of June 2021. As of today, there are a total of 685,204 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.

There are 74 new deaths today, bringing the death toll to 4,276. Meanwhile, there are 6,861 recoveries and a total of 615,326 cases have recovered the discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 89.90% while the mortality rate is 0.62%.

There are now 65,602 active cases that are receiving treatment. The number of ICU cases has dip to 894 and 451 of them require respiratory support.

Out of the 6,440 cases reported today, 5 are imported while 6,435 are transmitted locally.

According to the breakdown, Selangor records the most with 2,095 new cases. This is followed by Negeri Sembilan with 870 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 816 cases and Johor with 592 cases.
